Tuesdays with Morrie

Brief summary and personal reflection on the story
When I dropped by one bookstore by chance, I found this book in the bestseller section first. The title of this book attracted my attention, so I read it.
Morrie Schwartz, who was 78 year old sociology professor at Brandeis University was dying from Lou Gehrig's disease. Mitch Albom, who was his student used to visit Morrie's place on Tuesdays. They talked about the world, marriage, money or something although Morrie was dying. Morrie was not able to work, swim, walk, stand and eat alone, however, he wasn't depressed and even seemed like he enjoyed the rest of his life. Morrie realized that people and relationship are the most important in one's life as he was dying and going near the death. Mitch also became to know the most precious and valuable thing in his life. After Mitch's 14th visit, Morrie died when everyone was out of his room.
I thought that
I learned the greatest lesson in life from "Tuesdays with Morrie". We should think the life and the time that were given to us are valuable gift from the God. Therefore, we should take efforts to have worthy life. Morrie taught readers how to have worthy and happy life.
On the other hand, I envied Mitch Albom because he has the great teacher. Although there are many good teachers around me, I probably didn't meet the best teacher in my life. If I had a good advisor, I could lead my life more happily.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" was a feel-good story and gave me a chance to think deeply about life and death. I will never forget the greatest Morrie, and his tuesdays with Mitch.

The Secret diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4
Vocabulary:

2.hysterics: in a state of uncontrolled excitement, anger, or panic.
3.convalescence: the period or process of becoming healthy and well again after an illness or operation
4.redundancy: if there are redundancies, an organization tells some of its employees to leave because their jobs are no longer necessary or because the organization can no longer afford to pay them.
5.diabolical: emphasizing that it is very bad, extreme, or unpleasant.
6.ruminate: thinking about it very carefully
Summary:
Adrian Mole lived very unfortunately. He, his family and people around him were trouble makers everywhere. His parents divorced, Bert Baxter Adrian Mole took care of was old and dirty, and Barry Kent who was very vulgar and rude menaced him to take his money. What's worse, his face has broken out again and again, so he didn't have much confidence on his appearance. However, he had an illusion that he was a intellectual and he was getting too big for his boots.
His love was more smoothly compared to his whole life, which was very unlucky. His love was never returned first, but his love, Pandora also fell in love with him finally. Even though he gave a hasty glance at Barbara Boyer who was very wonderful girl momentarily, his love was unshakable.
Comments:
When I first read this book, it was very interesting because Adrian Mole was a adolescent like me. He endured the unfortunate situations very strongly and he achieved his love finally. Under this circumstance, he continued voluntary work and didn't lose hope. If I were he, I would not bear anymore. I would not understand such parents, such a old person and the reason why I was unlucky.
The secret diary of Adrian Mole was a exciting and impressive book. I lost track of time reading this book. I will try to read this book when I have enough time.

Global warming
As summer has become longer and longer, hotter and hotter, many people can know that something is strange. We suffer from fatigue due to hot weather, although it is not summer. Global warming is not only korean's problem but also a world-wide problem. To cope with this problem, we should have an effort to prevent global warming through diverse methods.
First of all, we should not waste any resources as a personal effort. We must conserve energy like electricity and water as well as we should recycle or reuse resources to spare it. These are particularly important because we can do it easily in our daily life.
Second, government should enact strong laws to prevent intensifying global warming. It is a kind of national effort to avoid global warming. Government should maintain strict control over those who illegally destroy nature and it has to encourage people to recycle and reuse resources by advertising the effect of recycling and reusing.
To conclude, there are many methods to prevent global warming, however, the most important thing we should remember is that all people in the world have try not to make earth hot. To slow down the speed of global warming, I believe we all should be the head of preventing global warming.

Also, other green buildings have special drainage system to save water were built with green materials, such as bamboo or recycled materials. Although there are not many green buildings now, I believe buildings related to our lives are becoming healthier and greener in the future.

In this story, I became to know the green buildings which are very beneficial to environment and their examples. It was shame that there was no korean examples but I believe that I will be able to see these buildings in Korea in the future.

What is Art?
Almost everybody has heard John Cage who was the pianist that didn't play the piano and just keep quiet for 4minutes and 33 seconds. And there are many views that it has to acknowledged as art, and other people say that it is not the art. In my opinion, it isn't cleary art.
First of all, the artist didn't show any certain skills. His creation was neither art nor music. Music has natural elements, such as rhythm, harmony, and melody, but the artist's creation has none of these. The artist's creation is just noise that audience makes, and also uses no skills; therefore, the creation is not music and it is not art. In addition, I think that almost everybody can sit down behind the piano just sitting, not playing the piano for 4minutes and 33seconds.
Secondly, the piece of artwork cannot be understood. I think that the art can be felt sympathy with audience. Through art, audience and artist can enjoy and be united together. However, in this story, only the artist can understand his own art. So, it cannot be the art.
To conclude, although there are many views that it is art because it satisfies art's definition, I think it lacks something essential of the art. Therefore, it cannot be the art.
